AV System Puts Stop To School Thefts

Del.icio.usThe last thing an elementary school should have to worry about is thieves and vandals targeting their school.
This, unfortunately, is exactly what Waimalu Elementary School had to deal with when thieves took bottles and cans from its recycling project last November.
Immediately wanting to help prevent reoccurring incidents, Audio Visual Company (AVCO) quickly came to the aid of this Pearl City school, donating and installing a much-needed, state-of-the-art surveillance system worth $10,000.
“The recent donation of a surveillance camera system by AVCO is a blessing for our school,” said principal Sheldon Oshio. “AVCO has always been an outstanding support to our school and pillar in the community.
“Having a surveillance system will assist our school’s effort in maintaining a conducive learning environment and allows us to monitor the campus and facility.”
In fact, just one day following the installation of the system, a gang of three youths tagged graffiti all over campus walls. Thanks to the camera and digital videorecorder, Oshio was able to submit a videotape to police, and it soon led to the successful arrest of all three suspects.
“The monitoring system is really efficient and records well,” explained Oshio. “We want to thank AVCO for all they have done to help us capture these vandals.”
