Drivers Better Watch Out On Holiday Roads

Del.icio.usWith the holiday season upon us, it’s safe to say many West Oahu residents are out and about attending Christmas parties or taking many trips to the malls to shop for gifts.
Drive Safe 4 Ewa/Kapolei wants to make certain that during this busy time, the community realizes the disastrous effects of speeding, drinking and driving.
Throughout the month of December, representatives from area schools,Ewa Weed & Seed, Ewa Beach and Kapolei City Lions and the Honolulu Police Department will wave signs at several locations in Kapolei and Ewa.
But what the campaign is better known for is its placement of crashed cars at busy intersections as a stark reminder of what can happen after drivers throw back one too many drinks.
“We hope this campaign will continue to educate the public about the deadly consequences of drunk driving,” said City Council Chairman Todd Apo, who represents Kapolei, Ewa and the Leeward Coast.“We can still celebrate with family and friends while being responsible and safe.”
Look for sign-wavers at the following locations: * St. Francis West Medical Center: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Dec. 15 and 29 * Kapolei Fairgrounds: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and 29
