A Pearl City family will mount its own holiday food drive by going door-to-door in their neighborhood this weekend to support Hawaii Foodbank.
Christina Laney-Wycheck and her mother Yumi Laney, both agents with the luxury real estate brokerage firm Kahala Associates, are now in their third year of this neighbor-to-neighbor effort.
The women distributed donation bags last weekend, and will be coming to collect them this Saturday. Laney-Wycheck said their territory covers Hoolana and Hoohai streets, and areas “close to Don Quijote and Foodland, near the police station.”
“We are proud to take this opportunity to give back to our community and to lend a helping hand to families in need,” she added. “We know that the economy has been tough on many families this year, stretching their finances to the limit. With the food drive, we can help alleviate some of that stress and give families plentiful holiday meals.”
The Realtors have plenty of support from Kahala Associates, which gives them the time they need for their projects. “We encourage our agents to pursue their philanthropic passions,” explained broker-owner Myra Brandt. “Each January, we sit down to review our personal goals, and giving back to our our community - in our own unique way - is always part of those resolutions.”
