West Actors Fill Musical Roll Call

All the energy and charisma Hollywood stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens bring to the big screen in High School Musical 3, local stars Kyle McCraw and Jana Souza match on the Army Community Theatre stage.

The “must-see” show of the season, High School Musical, opens Thursday (Nov. 20) and runs through Dec. 6 (on Friday and Saturday evenings) at 7:30 p.m. at Fort Shafter’s Richardson Theatre and a majority of the cast comes from West Oahu.


 

McCraw of Halawa View has the lead role of Troy, the basketball star athlete, while Souza of Kapolei has the role of Gabriella, the brainiac. Troy’s best friend, Jack Scott, is played by Jerrick Julio of Ewa Beach, and David L. Vega, also from Ewa Beach, is the high school principal. Coach Bolton, Troy’s father and booster is played by Richard Bragdon of Aiea. Also in the show are Colby Benson (Sharpay), Vincent Fitzgerald (Ryan), Jason Loo (Chad) and Lily Brennick (Mrs. Darbus, the drama teacher), among many talented others.

Directed by CoCo Wiel and choreographed by GraceBell Humerickhouse, the first Oahu non-school production of this Disney favorite promises to be a smash hit for the whole family. Rebecca Ramos assists Wiel, and Peter Rucci serves as music director in charge of the captivating tunes that will have audiences singing along.
