Below are highlights of what’s happening in the West Oahu community in the next few weeks.

* The Executive Women International Golf Tournament begins at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 10 at the Hawaii Prince Golf Club in Ewa Beach. Proceeds support the EWI scholarship fund. To enter or donate to the event, call Claire at 948-5970.

* The Ewa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Ewa Beach Library. Call 527-5749.

* The Pearl City Hongwanji conducts its annual bon dance at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12 at 858 Second St. Call 455-1680.


* Fall class registration for the Waipahu/Kapolei Community School for Adults runs through Aug. 11 at the adult school offices at Waipahu (675-0254) and Kapolei (692-8210) high schools.

* The Hawaii Blood Bank holds area donor drives from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at the Pearl City Home Depot; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Kapolei Big Kmart; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 26 at the LDS Makakilo Stake Center; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 27 at Pearl City Shopping Center. Call 845-9966.

* Author and crafter Roberta Wong conducts a free workshop on crochet leis at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 12 at Kapolei Library. Call 693-7050.

* Valley of the Rainbows hosts the Waianae Coast Sunset on the Beach from noon to 10 p.m. Aug. 12-13 at Maili Beach Park with a variety of non-stop entertainment, activities, fireworks and a feature movie each night. Call 923-1802.

* Kapolei Library presents its monthly “Movies Under the Stars” at 7 p.m. Aug. 16. Featured film is Toontown Hawaii: A Collection of Hawaiian-theme Cartoons. Call 693-7050.


* The Royal Hawaiian Band will perform a free concert at noon Aug. 16 at Kapolei Hale. They will also play at 1 p.m. Aug. 26 at Momilani Community Center. Call 922-5331.

* The Nature Conservancy leads a moderate, 3-mile hike from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 19 in the Honouliuli Preserve, along the Kaluaa Loop Trail. Fee is $10. Call 587-6220.

* Jeff Gere presents stories from his new CD, Tales of Kids in Hawaii, at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at the Kapolei Library. Call 693-7050.

* The Performing Artist Academy presents Young Pinoy Idols Showcase of Stars at 2 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Pearl City Cultural Center. Tickets are $25, $18 and $15. Call 671-2547.

* The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads an intermediate 5-mile hike of Iliahi Ridge in Pacific Palisades at 8 a.m. Aug. 20. An advanced 12-mile hike is planned for 8 a.m. Sept. 10 on Manana ridge in Pacific Palisades. Call 674-1459.

* The Pearl City Neighborhood Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22 in the Highlands Intermediate School cafeteria. Call 527-5749.

* The Makakilo-KapoleiHonokai Hale Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 in the Kapolei High School cafeteria. Call 527-5749.

* The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii present its annual “Walk in the Country” gala Aug. 26 at Lanikuhonua. Call 949-4203.
