Below are highlights of what’s happening in the West Oahu community in the next few weeks.
* Pearl City Library hosts the puppet show, Ku’ula, the God of Fishing, at 3 p.m. April 26 featuring 18 hand-carved puppets. Call 453-6566.
* The Blood Bank of Hawaii conducts a donor drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at Leeward Community College. Call 845-9966.
* The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 6-mile, intermediate ridge-and-valley hike in Pearl City at 8 a.m. April 29. Call 674-1459. * Hawaii Okinawa Center conducts its Spring Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 29 at the center in Waipio. Early-bird shoppers’ donation is $5 (at 8:30 a.m.) Call 676-5400.
* The state Board of Education will meet from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m May 2 in the Ewa Beach Elementary School cafeteria for “an open exchange of ideas” with the community. Topics include standards, assessment and restructuring. Call 586-3349.
* The Pearl City Bonsai Club will host an exhibit and plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 6 at Aiea Elementary School. Call 262-5873.
* Leeward Community College’s Wai’anae art students will present “Artists of Wai’anae” art exhibition from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 6 at The Makaha Resort. Admission is free, call Gladys de Barcza at 728-2673.
