* DANCE EXPLORERS Kapolei Library hosts an interactive children’s dance program at 10 a.m. Aug. 7 in the Children’s Room. Keiki must be accompanied by an adult. Call 693-7050.

* SCHOOL BOARD The state Board of Education meets at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at Waipahu Intermediate School to discuss Leeward District matters and hear testimony from the public. Call 586-3332.

* BON DANCES West Oahu’s bon dance season continues at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8-9 at Pearl City Hongwanji (455-1680); and 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at Aiea Hongwanji (488-5685).

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 9 at Resurrection of the Lord Church in Waipahu; from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Ihilani Resort Ocean Ballroom; from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Makakilo Stake Center; from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug.17 at Waikele Center; from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at Kapolei Shopping Center; and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at Ewa Town Center by Foodland. * SURF SALE Hope Chapel Kapolei’s Thailand Mission Team sponsors a back-to-school Surf Sample Sale and Swap Meet from 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 9 at the church’s new location at Barbers Point. Admission is $3. Proceeds go to Zoe International. Call 387-2072.

* TUPUOLA BENEFIT A benefit concert for the children of Janel Tupuola is from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Aug. 9 at Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park, hosted by Da Braddahs with headline entertainment. * PAU HANA WAIPAHU Culinary master Claude Tayag from the Philippines is featured guest from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at “Pau Hana in Waipahu"at the FilCom Center. He will introduce his gourmet sauces, sign copies of his book and show paintings. Angeli Callo and others will entertain. The free public event includes food samplings for the first 200 guests.
