* FOOD EXHIBIT Kapolei Library hosts the traveling Smithsonian exhibit, Key Ingredients: America by Food through Oct. 18 offering a variety of displays and free programs. This week’s schedule includes Terry Phillips of Aloun Farms giving tips on buying key ingredients at 7 p.m. Sept. 9, Lee Cataluna reading from her published works at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13, and environ-mentalist Hunter Heaivilin discussing sustainable gardening at 7 p.m. Sept. 16. * CABLE TV The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs has a community meeting on Oceanic Time Warner’s cable TV franchise renewal application from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9 at Kapolei Middle School cultural center to get input the needs, interests and benefits to viewers of cable service. * ORGAN DONORS The Organ Donor Center of Hawaii gives a free presentation at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at Aiea Library on how to become a donor. Call 483-7333.

* CATCHMENT CLASS Halawa Xeriscape Garden has a workshop at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 on how to make a rain barrel catchment system. Fee is $35, and advanced registration is required. Call 748-5363.

* EMOSI BENEFIT Friends of Sweet Leilani plan a benefit concert for Ewa Beach teen Leilani Emosi, who has leukemia, from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Pipeline Cafe, featuring five bands, food, a silent auction, prizes and keiki games, along with a bone marrow registration drive from 2 to 5 p.m. Tax-deductible donations are welcome to Save-A-Life-Enhance-A-Life Foundation, care of First Hawaiian Bank. * MARSH CLEANUP Hawaii Nature Center volunteers clean up and restore Pouhala Marsh in Waipahu from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 13. Call 955-0100, ext. 18.

* NANAKULI RECYCLINGAloha Aina Earth Day moves to Nanakuli Intermediate and High School parking lot from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 13, accepting all kinds of metal, car parts, beams, passenger tires (four per car),usable clothing, cell phones, batteries, computers (one per car), HI-5 items and much more. For help with pick-up, call 306-1876 or 586-8465. Proceeds benefit the school.

* VOLLEYBALL CLINIC The USA Volleyball Association has a free clinic for youths ages 11 to 17 from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 13 at Waianae District Park gym. More coaches also are needed. The club works with the Nanakuli Boys & Girls Club, and the clinics will continue until October, when competitive tryouts are planned. Call Nani Barron at 723-9752.

* EWA LITTLE LEAGUE Ewa Little League meets at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at Ewa Beach Community Center to elect its 2009 board of directors. * BON DANCE Hawaii United Okinawa Association presents its Autumn Okinawa Dance Matsuri from 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 20 at Hawaii Okinawa Center, 94-578 Ukee St. in Waipio. Planned are music, food and plenty of bon dancing. Practice is at 7 p.m. Sept. 16 at the center. Call 676-5400.
