Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.
* SCHOOL CLOSURES All public schools and libraries are closed Nov. 4 for the General Election and Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.
* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 at Leeward Community College, and from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 16 at Waikele Center by Leonard’s Malasadas. Call 845-9966.
* NATIVE ART Leeward Community College has a free exhibit of Native Hawaiian art on view Nov. 3 to Dec. 4 in the Foyer Art Gallery. Call 455-0524.
* RAIATEA SINGS Raiatea Helm performs at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Pearl City Wal-Mart promoting her Christmas Medley gift set and CD sampler.

* ARBOR DAY The UH Urban Garden Center gives out free trees from 7 a.m. to noon Nov. 8 while supplies last in observation of Arbor Day. * CHRISTMAS IDEAS Volunteers with Family and Community Education conduct a free Christmas Ideas Demonstration at 10 a.m. Nov. 9 at the Urban Garden Center in Pearl City, 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Waipahu Library, 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at Kapolei Library and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 24 at Ewa Beach Library. * PEARL LUNCH The Pearl Restaurant at Leeward Community College is open for lunch Wednesday-Friday now through Dec. 5. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. featuring contemporary cuisine from the culinary students. For reservations, call 455-0475.
* LIBRARY PLAY Kapolei Library has play mornings at 10 a.m. Thursdays for keiki ages 2 to 5. Also at the library are toddler storytimes at 10 a.m. Monday-Thursday, and Saturday Storytimes for keiki 3 and older are at 10 a.m. Call 693-7050.
* TOASTMASTERS MEET The Pearl City Toastmasters meets at 7 p.m. every first and third Tuesday in the Mokihana Room of Pearlridge Gardens & Tower (98-1042 Moanalua Rd.). Call 780-2066.

* FRIDAY MELE Baba Alimoot and Friends provide free musical entertainment from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Friday throughout Pearlridge. Call 488-0981.
* OKINAWAN MUSIC Live Okinawan Music from 8:30-10 p.m. every first and third Wednesday of the month at Off the Wall Bar and Grill in Aiea. Call 486-9255.
* FASHION CLASSES Polyphabric Design Studio hosts sewing, construction, pattern-making and design classes for all skill levels from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday at their Kapolei location. Sewing classes cost $100 for eight sessions, all other one-hour classes cost $200 for eight (supplies included). Students should be at least 8 years old to apply. Call 520-2232.
