Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* NEIGHBORS Aiea Neighborhood Board meets at 7:30 p.m. June 8 at Aiea Library; and the Ewa board meets at 7 p.m. June 18 at Ewa Beach Library (date change because of Kamehameha Day). Call 768-3710.

* QUARRY HEARING The city Department of Planning and Permitting holds a hearing for a conditional use permit at 1:30 p.m June 9 on Grace Pacific’s request to expand operations at its quarry in Honouliuli. The hearing is in the City Council committee meeting room at Honolulu Hale. Call 768-8049.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 11 at Pearl City Home Depot, 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 13 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Makakilo and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 18 at Bank of Hawaii Kapolei. Call 845-9966.


 

* STAR LAB University of Hawaii graduate astronomy students present the free planetarium show “StarLab: a Look at the Night Sky” at 10:45 and at 11:45 a.m. June 10 at Ewa Beach Library featuring an inflated dome and a central projector. Call 689-1204.

* LIBRARY CLOSURESAll public libraries are closed June 11 in observance of King Kamehameha Day.

* KARATE Hawaii Shotokan Karate Club is registering students of all ages for its beginner program with classes starting June 12 at Aiea Intermediate School. Fees range from $75 to $125. Call 988-7128.

* LISTEN STORY State Sen. Mike Gabbard conducts a community meeting at 9 a.m. June 13 at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf near Malama Market on Makakilo Drive. Refreshments will be served. Call 586-6830.

* FEMALE FINANCES Financial planner Paul Berardo presents “A Woman’s Guide to Money Matters” at 10:30 a.m. June 13 at Kapolei Library. Call 693-7050.
