Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* Kapolei Library (1020 Manawai St.) screens It’s Alive! The Return of Famous Monsters of Filmland as part of its rare films series at 7 p.m. Oct. 25. Call 693-7050.

* The Makakilo Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 25 in the Kapolei High School cafeteria; the Waipahu board meets at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 at Hawaii’s Plantation Village. Call 527-5749.

* Sam’s Club in Pearl City (1000 Kamehameha Hwy.) has teamed up with Cafe Bom Dia to donate $1 from every bag of its Member’s Mark, Marques de Paiva and Fair Trade Certified coffees sold in October to children of the Brazilian farming families that grow the coffee. Call 456-7788.


* The black-and-white photo exhibit My Voice from Waianae’s Women in Need participants is on display weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Oct. 25, at Kapolei Hale. Call 523-4674.

* The Leeward Corps of the Salvation Army is accepting applications from families in need for the holidays now through Nov. 7 at 98-612 Moanalua Loop in Aiea. Call 487-1636.

* LCC Theatre presents Laurie Anderson in The End of the Moon at 8 p.m. Oct. 27. Call 455-0385.

* Easter Seals Hawaii will host a haunted house at its Ewa plantation home from 6 to 11 p.m. Oct. 27 and 28, along with games, face painting and crafts. Admission is $4. Call 536-1015.

* The Waipio Center Community Swap Meet is set for Oct. 28 across from Central Oahu Regional Park. For hours and details, call 288-2590.

* Iroquois Point Elementary School (5553 Cormorant Ave. in Ewa Beach) is holding a Native American Family Powwow from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 with dancers, drummers, food, crafts, storytelling and games. Call 499-6500, ext. 230.

* Kapolei Library (1020 Manawai St.) offers a series of free storytime programs now through Dec. 16. Toddler storytime (ages 2-3) is 10 a.m. Mondays, and pre-school storytime is 10 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Call 693-7050.


* Aloun Farms hosts its Pumpkin Patch Festival Oct. 28 and 29, as well as weekday tours, with parking proceeds benefitting Campbell High School’s agriculture program. Call 677-9516.

* Pearlridge Center hosts classic Hawaiian music from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 with Ike Pono, Downtown. Call 488-0981.

* Waipahu Library offers free storytime, songs and activities at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays for keiki ages 3 to 5. Parents must accompany children. Call 675-0358.

* Kahikuonalani Church (757 Hoomalu St.) presents its second annual Community Celebration Oct. 28 with entertainment, baked goods, crafts, plants and snacks. Call 455-7724.

* Aiea Library (99-143 Moanalua Road) is featuring a display of ceramic sculptures by seventh- and eighth-grade students of Aiea Intermediate School through the end of October. Call 483-7333.

* St. Francis-West and Liliha provide free mammograms and follow-up exams to uninsured and underinsured women ages 40-49 during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Call 547-6889 or 547-6798.

* Pearl City Library (1138 Waimano Home Rd.) offers pre-school storytimes Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. through Dec. 13. Puzzletimes are Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. through Dec. 14. Call 453-6566.

* Family and Community Education presents free demonstrations of Christmas craft ideas at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Ewa Beach Library, and Nov. 1 at Kapolei Library. Call 247-0421, ext. 100.

* Pearlridge Uptown Center Court hosts an afternoon of Halloween fun starting at 3 p.m. Oct. 31. Entertainment includes clowns, face painting and trick-or-treating. Call 488-0981.

* Pearl City Hongwanji women sponsor a craft fair from 8 a.m. to noon Nov. 4 at 858 Second St., featuring handmade items, produce, sushi, plants, cut flowers, pickled vegetables, jams, jellies, baked goods and cookbooks. Call 455-1832.

* The Nature Conservancy leads a moderate hike from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 5 along Palikea Trail in the Honouliuli Preserve. Call 587-6220.
