Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* TRANSIT WORKSHOPS The city’s High-Capacity Transit Corridor Project conducts community workshops at 6:30 p.m. June 29 and Aug. 5 at Kapolei High School cafeteria on the three proposed rail transit stations for West Oahu. Call 566-2299.

* SWIM OUTREACH Niuhi Aquatics offers a free Community Outreach Clinic in water safety and swim skills from 4 to 7 p.m. June 29 and 30 at the old Barbers Point/Kalaeloa fitness center, in partnership with Hope Chapel Kapolei, which also will offer Bible study swim lessons. * BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 30 at the Kakuhihewa Building in Kapolei and 12:15 to 3 p.m. June 30 at Waipahu Civic Center on Mokuola Street. Call 845-9966.

* OPERA Ewa Beach Library presents a free performance by Hawaii Youth Opera Chorus at 2 p.m. June 30 from the opera Na ‘Uhane by Herb Mahelona. Call 689-1204.

* NEW PLANETS Solar system ambassador Gregory McCartney discusses details and names of new planets beyond our solar system with photos from NASA at 6:30 p.m. July 1 at Kapolei Library. Call 693-7050.

* GLEE CLUB The Royal Hawaiian Band Glee Club sings at 10:30 a.m. July 2 at Ewa Beach Library. Call 689-1204.

* STORIES, CLOWNS Waipahu Library conducts free Preschool Playtimes at 10:30 a.m. July 2, 9 and 16 for ages 3 and older.Also, the Aloha Clowns Magical Bubble Show is set for 10:30 a.m. July 7 for all ages, and Discover Toys presents “Playtime with Education Toys” at 10:30 a.m. July 14. * WIENERS The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile visits Times Supermarket Kunia from 2 to 6 p.m. July 2, Foodland Waipio from 8 a.m. to noon July 3,Waimalu 7-Eleven from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 4 and Times Waimalu from 2 to 6 p.m. July 4 on its Hawaii promotional tour.

* LIBRARY CLOSURES Most public libraries are closed July 3-5 in observance of the Independence Day weekend.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank conducts donor drives from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 4 at Pearlridge Center, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 11 at St. Joseph Church and School in Waipahu, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 18 at LDS Ewa Beach First Ward, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 19 at Waikele Center, from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 25 at Kapolei Shopping Center and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 26 at Foodland Ewa Beach. * GOALIE CLINIC Bob Barry’s Goalkeeper Clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 4-5 on Waiau Field for ages 8 and older. Fee is $130. Call 236-4515.

* FIREWORKS Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii holds a special Fourth of July celebration to benefit Leeward nonprofit Konishiki Kids Foundation from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with games, prizes, live entertainment and a fireworks show. * TOUR DE TRASH The city’s Tour de Trash program visits Island Demo, Baseyard Hawaii Reuse Facility, Schnitzer Steel Hawaii, Grace Pacific and Hawaiian Earth Products Leeward from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 16 to showcase “Construction and Demolition.” Tour begins and ends at Kapolei Hale.
