* DANCE SIGNUPS Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association in Kapolei registers students for classes in tango, mambo and waltz from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 28 and during the first three sessions Oct. 5, 12 and 19 at Kapolei Elementary School. * RECYCLE HEARING The city Department of Planning and Permitting holds a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 28 in Kapolei Hale conference room B on a proposed petroleum waste and tire recycling facility expansion at 91-125 Kaomi Loop in Ewa. Call 768-8006.


* NATIONAL PARKS Kapolei Library screens a free preview of Ken Burns’ documentary The National Parks: America’s Best Idea at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30. Call 693-7050.

* AIEA STORIES Aiea Library begins its free pre-school storytime for fall at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 30, and every Wednesday through Nov. 4, as well as Nov. 18 and 25, in the meeting room. Call 483-7333.

* WAIPAHU PARADE Waipahu High School has its annual homecoming parade at 3 p.m. Oct. 2 on streets surrounding the school with the band, 400 marchers, floats and vehicles. Call 675-0123.

* KAPOLEI MUSICAL The Performing Arts Center of Kapolei presents Dear Edwina Jr. Oct. 2-10 at Kapolei High School Forum. Showtimes are 7 p.m. Oct. 2, 9 and 10, and 6 p.m. Oct. 3 (bring your own chair to this one).Admission is $6 and $3. Go to http://www.packapolei.org.
