Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.
* PEDESTRIANS State DOT officials host a meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Hale Ponoi in Kapolei to hear comments on how to improve pedestrian safety through a master plan. Call 587-2160.
* BLOOD D DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 7 a.m. to noon Aug. 11 at Kapolei Bank of Hawaii and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 15 at Waikele Center. Call 845-9966.

* URBAN N ART West Oahu’s best urban artists present “Me Against the World” with an opening reception of live music, fashion and hip hop culture from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 14 at Prototype at Pearlridge Center. The show continues through Sept. 9. Call 358-4376.
* TRANSPORTATION Oahu Metropolitan Planning Organization conducts a public meeting from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 14 at Kapolei High School on its regional transportation plan through 2035. Comments are welcome. Call 587-2015.
* GARDEN N TALKK UH Urban Garden Center demonstrates ways to control garden pests while being environmentally friendly at 9 a.m. Aug. 14 at 955 Kamehameha Hwy. in Pearl City. There also are a mini plant sale, plant clinic and garden tours until noon. Call 453-6050.

* FUN N RUN N SIGNUPS Early entry deadline ($25) is Aug. 16 for the Aug. 22 Waipahu Cane Haul 5K Run, which benefits Waipahu Community Coalition. Fee after Aug. 16 is $30. Call 397-7750.
