Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* Waipahu Library presents Bradley Choy’s magic and comedy show at 6 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Andy Anderson Room featuring live rabbits. Call 675-0358.

* Pearlridge Center events include the Pearl City Elementary School chorus singing at 7 p.m Dec. 6, the Pearl Ridge Elementary School Chorus at 11 a.m. Dec. 9, musical “Classics” at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 with Tradewind in Downtown’s center court, Ewa Elementary School Chorus onstage at 11 a.m. Dec. 16 and Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary School Chorus at 5 p.m. Dec. 17. * This week’s Hawaii Blood Bank donor drives are from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m Dec. 6 at Kapolei High School; 7 to 11:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at St. Francis Medical Center West; 10:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 7 at Kahi Mohala; and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at Waikele Center. Call 845-9966.


* The state Board of Education holds a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Waiau Elementary School cafeteria to hear residents’ concerns and give an update on policies and budget issues. Call 586-3349.

* The Small Business Administration conducts a day of free meetings on how to develop a small business from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Waipahu WorkLinks office (94-275 Mokuola St., suite 302). Call 541-2983.

* Aiea Library (99-143 Moanalua Rd.) holds a “Mystery Movie"presentation at 3 p.m. Dec. 7, about two pilots who fall in love with the same nurse during a 1941 attack in Hawaii. Parents must accompany children to this three-hour, PG-13 rated film. Call 483-7333.

* St. Francis’ Ewa Beach hospice holds a Christmas tree blessing and remembrance at 6 p.m. Dec. 8 with music and refreshments. To donate a star for the tree, call 595-7566.

* HMSA conducts a flu shot clinic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Pearl City Don Quijote store. Nonmembers’ fee is $35. Call 948-6826.

* Hawaii Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker Dec. 9-17 at Leeward Community College theater. Call the box office at 455-0385.

* Kapolei Shopping Center presents “Santa Saturday"from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 9 with craft activities, entertainment, prizes and promotions throughout the day. Cash donations and canned food will be accepted. Call 262-8556.

* Kapolei’s West Oahu Holiday Electric Light Parade starts at Kapolei Fairgrounds at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 and ends at Kapolei Hale for a tree lighting ceremony attended by Mayor Mufi Hannemann. There will also be food and entertainment. Call Patty at 527-5759.


* The Waipahu Christmas parade starts at 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at Waipahu District Park and ends at Leolua Street behind Waipahu Town Center. The town center’s Christmas Carnival is open from 4 to 7 p.m. with rides, food, Santa, a songfest and more. Call Bryan at 676-4301.

* The Gentry Waipio Community Association holds its Christmas parade at 10 a.m. Dec. 9 starting at the shopping center and traveling throughout the neighborhood and back. Call 671-2272.

* Aiea Elementary School hosts a Season’s Best Craft & Gift Fair from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 9 featuring 150 booths.

* The Leeward Dance Stars will perform at 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at Pearlridge Center (uptown, second level). Call 488-0981.

* Pearl City Library presents Art Suankum and “Holiday Do Re Mi Music"at 3 p.m. Dec. 11. Call 453-6566.

* The city holds a hearing at 10 a.m. Dec. 11 in the City Hall Annex regarding the establishment of a group living facility at 94-951 Kahuamoku Place in Waipahu. Call 523-4807.

* Military families are invited to a pau hana event at the new Leeward YMCA (94-440 Mokuola St.) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12. There will be pupus, tours of the facility and special membership packages available. RSVP by calling 671-6495.

* The U.S. Small Business Administration holds free consultations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at Oahu Worklinks in Waipahu (94-275 Mokuola St. #302). Call 541-2983.

* A deaf and signing Santa offers deaf and hard-of-hearing keiki a chance to share their holiday wishes in a 15th annual celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 14 at Pearlridge Center (uptown, second level). Call 488-0981.

* Kapolei Library (1020 Manawai St.) hosts a series of free storytimes now through Dec. 16. Toddler storytime (ages 2-3) is 10 a.m. Mondays and preschool storytime is 10 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Call 693-7050.

* Pearl City Library (1138 Waimano Home Rd.) offers pre-school storytimes Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. through Dec. 13. Puzzletimes are Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. through Dec. 14. Call 453-6566.

* The Ewa Beach Christmas Parade starts at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 16 at Ilima Intermediate School in a celebration that ends back at the school. Call Dolores at 689-1311.
