* KUNIA HEARING The city Department of Planning and Permitting conducts a hearing at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 20 on a permit to allow a poultry processing operation on old Del Monte plantation land in Kunia. The hearing is in the City Council committee meeting room at Honolulu Hale. Call 768-8024.

* SHREDDING DAY AARP Shredding Day is planned for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Kapolei Home Depot parking lot. Residents can bring up to four file boxes of papers for free shredding.
* WAIPIO RECYCLING Kanoelani Elementary School has a “Nourishing Your Neighborhood” recycling drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 23 at 94-1091 Oli Loop in Waipio Gentry. Metal scrap, appliances, HI-5 containers, cooking oil, computers and more are welcome. Call 675- 0195 or 306-1876.
