Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* Waipahu Library presents “Starlight: The Art of Parol,” a free craft-making program in commemoration of the Filipino Centennial, at 5 p.m. Dec. 13. Children ages 5 to adult can learn how to make the star-shaped Parol, a traditional holiday symbol of the Philippines. Call 675-0358 to register.

* Pearl City Library (1138 Waimano Home Rd.) offers pre-school storytimes Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. through Dec. 13. Puzzletimes are Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. through Dec. 14. Call 453-6566.


* The U.S. Small Business Administration holds free consultations from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at Oahu Worklinks in Waipahu (94-275 Mokuola St. #302). Call 541-2983.

* A deaf and signing Santa offers deaf and hard-of-hearing keiki a chance to share their holiday wishes in a 15th annual celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 14 at Pearlridge Center (uptown, second level). Call 488-0981.

* The Ewa Neighborhood Board meets at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 in the Ewa Beach Library. Call 527-5749.

* Pearlridge Center (in front of Crazy Shirts) presents the Waiau Elementary School chorus at 7 p.m. Dec. 14, Ewa Elementary chorus at 11 a.m. Dec. 16, the Highlands Intermediate band at 3 p.m. Dec. 16, and Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary chorus at 5 p.m. Dec. 17. Also at Pearlridge, Manutahi Tahitian Dance Co. performs at 7 p.m. Dec. 22. Call 349-8221.

* This week’s Hawaii Blood Bank donor drives are from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 14 at Kahi Mohala on Fort Weaver Road; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at Pearl City Shopping Center; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Ihilani Malolo Room. Call 845-9966.

* Kapolei Library (1020 Manawai St.) hosts a series of free storytimes through Dec. 16. Toddler storytime (ages 2-3) is 10 a.m. Mondays and preschool storytime is 10 a.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Call 693-7050.

* Holomua Elementary School holds its annual Craft and Gift Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m Dec. 16, featuring live entertainment, prize drawings, and more in the cafeteria, 91-1561 Keaunui Drive.

Proceeds go into a Campbell High School scholarship fund. Call 479-5525.

* The Ewa Beach Christmas Parade, featuring the Royal Hawaiian Band, starts at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 16 at Ilima Intermediate School in a celebration that ends back at the school. Call Dolores at 689-1311.

* The Nature Conservancy leads a 3-mile moderate hike along the Kaluaa Loop Trail in the Honouliuli Preserve from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16. Fee is $10. Call 587-6220.


* Hawaii Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker through Dec. 17 at Leeward Community College theater. Call the box office at 455-0385.

* The Royal Hawaiian Band performs at noon Dec. 20 at Kapolei Hale courtyard. Call 922-5331.

* Pearlridge Center presents musical “Classics” from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturdays, with Ike Pono, classic Hawaiian music, booked for Dec. 23 in Downtown’s center court. Call 349-8221.

* Comments are due Dec. 26 on plans for a two-story classroom building at Mauka Lani Elementary School. Call George Coates at 586-0721.

* The Pearlridge Express at Pearlridge Center, Uptown Center Court is giving daily rides to keiki through Jan. 1. Call 488-0981.
