Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* LIBRARY CLOSURES All area public libraries are closed Dec. 24-26.

* BLOOD DRIVES Hawaii Blood Bank has donor drives from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 26 at Ewa Town Center Foodland and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 31 at Waikele Center. Call 845-9966.

* TACKLE FOOTBALL The USO Athletics’ Kapolei Islanderz team is registering players in West Oahu for spring tackle football, open to boys and girls in grades 4 to 9 with no weight restrictions. Practice begins Jan. 10 at American Renaissance Academy and at Pointer Field C, both in Kalaeloa. * BOOK SALES The Friends of Pearl City Library have a book sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Sunday, now through Jan. 23. Call 435-6566.

* COLLECTION DRIVE Hawaii Self Storage at Pearl City (98-138 Hila Place) and Kapolei (488 Kamokila Blvd.) welcomes donations for Ho’omalu O Na Kamali’i, a children’s receiving home on the Leeward Coast. Needed are new clothing, blankets, towels, sports equipment, shoes, slippers, toys, school supplies, backpacks and arts and crafts. Call 521-9531, ext 224.

* BARBERS BOWLING Barbers Point Bowling is open to the public daily at 91-1259 Saratoga Ave. Bowling center hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m Sunday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to midnight Friday-Saturday (673-2695). The snack bar opens at 9 a.m. (673-2696).

* EWA RECYCLES Reynolds Recycling’s HI-5 Ewa redemption center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at Ewa Town Center near Longs Drugs. (It’s closed from noon to 1:30 p.m.) Call 487-2802.

* NANAKULI RECYCLES Reynolds Recycling’s HI-5 Nanakuli redemption center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at Nanakuli Village, 89-102 Farrington Hwy. (It’s closed from noon to 1 p.m.) Call 487-2802.

* FIT CLUB Fit Club Hawaii has adult exercise classes from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays at Iroquois Point Elementary School, Room P14. Fee is $1 per class. Call 561-3837 or visit http://www.fitclubhawaii.com.

* STAR SIGHTINGS Ko Olina hosts “Stars Above Hawaii,” an astronomical star show at 8 and 9 nightly by reservation at 291-2464.

* CITY MARKETS The People’s Open Market sells produce on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. at Waiau District Park and 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at Waipahu District Park; Fridays from 7 to 8 a.m. to Halawa District Park and 9 to 10 a.m. at Ewa Beach Community Park; Sundays from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Kapolei Community Park, 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Royal Kunia Park-n-Ride and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Waikele Community Park. * MUSIC CLASSES Keiki Kani Music Studio has ongoing classes for all ages in music basics, piano, voice, guitar, trumpet, saxophone and low brass at its Aiea location (behind Dixie Grill). Call 487-2275 for days/times and fees.

* GARDENING Urban Garden Center has a free public gardening program from 9 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of each month at 955 Kamehameha Hwy. Call 453-6050.

* DOG ADOPTIONS Hawaii Dog Foundation conducts adoptions at PETCO from noon to 2 p.m. Sundays in Pearl City. Call 782-8387.

* KARATE Shotokan Karate Center conducts a variety of classes for seniors and for all ages and skill levels weekly at Pearl City Highlands Elementary School and at Aiea Hongwanji. Call 456-9407.

* TAI CHI CLASSES Pearl City Foundation hosts classes in the art of tai chi at 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Momilani Community Center. Fee is $3 per week for both classes. Call 456-2073.

* SUPPORT GROUPS A Hospice Hawaii grief support group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month (924-9255), and a cancer support group, Hui Malama Kako’o, meets from 5:30 to 7 p.m. every Thursday (except holidays) in the first-floor physicians dining room of Pali Momi hospital (485-4548). Parking is validated.

* PARENT SUPPORT Leeward Community Child-ren’s Council has free parent support meetings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every third Wednesday at Kapolei Police Station. All parents of children with special needs are welcome to attend. Call 586-5363.
