Below are highlights of what’s happening in the West Oahu community in the next few weeks.

* The Hawaii Blood Bank holds area donor drives from

* Film historian Steve Fredrick presents Hawaii During World War II: The Movies and Music in the 1940s, at 7 p.m. May 31 at Kapolei Library (693-7050).

* The Honolulu Theatre for Youth presents Tales of Old Hawaii at 3 p.m. May 31 in the Pearl City Library (453-6566). The program is suitable for ages two to five and their families.


* Kapolei Rotary Club’s inaugural golf tournament is June 2 on the Hickam AFB course. Call 542-5556.

* Kapolei High School seniors graduate at 6 p.m. June 2 in the school stadium; Campbell High ceremonies are at 5:30 p.m. June 3 at Aloha Stadium.

* A free lecture/demo of jazz music from the 1940s and ‘50s, The Sound of Swing, is set for 10 a.m. June 3 at Kapolei Library (693-7050).

* Kapolei’s Relay for Life runs from 7 p.m. June 10 to 7 a.m. June 11 at Kapolei High School, as a benefit for the American Cancer Society. Call 486-8420.

* The Coalition of Dads presents “A Celebration of Dads” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 10 at Pearlridge Center Uptown, featuring music, clowns, a fathere-child look-alike contest and more. Call 349-8221.


* Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park holds a Kulcha Klash Music Festial and Da’ FlowRider Summer Series Contest from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. June 10, featuring 15 bands and 20 DJs. Admission is $25 at the door. Register for the contest at 674-WAVE, ext. 102.

* A performance of “No Music, No Life” by Honolulu blues musician Art Suankum kicks off the Pearl City Library’s young adult summer reading program at 6 p.m. June 12. Call 453-6566.

* Patricia Kirita Nomura and Jane Kurahara present “Life in an Internment Camp” at 1 p.m. June 17 at Kapolei Library (693-7050).
