Below are highlights of what’s coming up in West Oahu.

* ROYAL MUSIC The Royal Hawaiian Band performs a free concert at noon Sept. 19 in the Kapolei Hale Courtyard.

* PRIVATE SCHOOLS The Hawaii Association of Independent Schools conduct an admissions fair at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19 at Pearl Country Club. Call 973-1540.

* AVIATION LECTURE The Pacific Aviation Museum presents a lecture by aviation historian and author Peter Forman at 5 p.m. Sept. 19. Admission ranges from $14 to $5. Call 441-1000.

* NEIGHBORS Pearl City Neighborhood Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25 in the Highlands Intermediate School cafeteria; the Makakilo-KapoleiHonokai Hale board meets at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 in the Kapolei High School cafeteria. Call 527-5749.

* MAKUA ART The Kapolei Hale Courtyard hosts the photo exhibit Makua Kahoolawe Makua through Sept. 20. Call 373-3070.


* HOMECOMING Waipahu High School’s homecoming parade is set for 3 to 4 p.m. Sept. 21, from the school to Waipio Access Road, Kahualii, Kahuaina, Kahuanani and Kahuanui streets; to Paiwa, Awanui and Awalai streets, then back to the school. Call 675-0123.

* FUN FAIR Honomua Elementary has its annual Ohana Fair from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 at 91-1561 Keaunui Drive with food, games and prizes. Call 685-2000.

* AUDITIONS LCC Theatre holds open auditions for Mary Zimmerman’s The Odyssey, an adaptation of Odysseus’ epic journey, from 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 21 and 2 to 5 p.m. Sept. 22. Call Paul Cravath at 455-0549.

* SHAKESPEARE Kapolei Performing Art Center presents its abridged version of Shakepeare’s Twelfth Night at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 and 22 in the Kapolei High Forum. Tickets are $6. Call 692-8200, ext. 3276.

* HORSE SHOW The Aloha State Games Equestrian Competition runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 22 at Barbers Point Riding Club on Geiger Road. Admission is $3 and $1.50. To register as a participant, call 590-1210.

* PUKA GUIDE Authors Jodi Endo and Donovan Dela Cruz sign copies of their revised book on local eateries, The Puka Guide, at noon Sept. 22 at Borders Aiea, and at 2 p.m. Sept 29 at Borders Waikele.

* KEIKI HO’OLAULE’A Aloha Festivals presents its fourth annual Keiki Ho’olaule’a from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 22 at Pearlridge Uptown and Downtown, with hula, games and activities.

* CHURCH FAIR Ewa Community Church presents its 26th annual Mission Fair from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22 at 91-1258 Renton Road. The Ewa Plantation Singers will perform their final show at the fair, which also has food, games, crafts, plants, baked goods, a country store and more. Call 681-3471.


* HIKE The Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club leads a 6-mile intermediate ridge-and-valley hike to Halapepe Nui in Pearl City at 8 a.m. Sept. 22; and a 12-mile advanced hike up Pacific Palisades ridge at 8 a.m. Sept. 30. Go to www.htmclub.org

* CAR WASH Messiah Lutheran Church (Ewa Beach) and Our Savior Lutheran Church (Aiea) wash cars for free from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 22 in support of Lutheran High School. Call 949-5302, ext. 30.
