Aiea Intermediate School’s Drama Club presents High School Musical, Jr. at 7 p.m. Friday at the school cafeteria at 99-600 Kulawea St.

High School Musical is a popular and recognizable show,” said teacher and play director Julia Lopresti of the hit Disney series upon which the play is based.

The cast of 35 students rehearsed Monday through Saturday every week since early February to prepare for their musical debut.

“Our youngest (performer) is in third grade,“said Lopresti of her actors, who go all the way up to grade 8.

And when it comes to their natural singing abilities: “Most of them do (have natural talent), but many have to work hard.”

Additional shows will be staged Saturday and May 7 and 8. All performances are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Lopresti or Dayna Trinidad at 483-7230.
