Groups seeking money to buy Oahu land for preservation purposes have until Oct. 1 to apply to the Clean Water and Natural Lands Commission for its next round of awards.
The panel will review and recommend projects to the City Council that “support efforts to preserve and protect lands of cultural significance, abundant natural resource and recreational value.”
Along with three other projects, the commission previously approved the acquisition of land in Honouliuli Preserve and Kunia Agricultural Research Station, according to chairwoman Marjorie Ziegler.
The Clean Water and Natural Lands Fund ordinance was approved by voters in 2006 to set aside a portion of real property tax revenues for land conservation.
