A monthlong anniversary party at a Waikiki landmark restaurant is designed to help homeless families in West Oahu and Waimanalo.

Duke’s Waikiki marks its 17th year this month by selling Legacy of Aloha T-shirts and donating the proceeds to Holomua Na ‘Ohana, a nonprofit that provides transitional housing and support to Onemalu in Kalaeloa and Weinberg Village in Waimanalo. Ten dollars from each sale goes into the restaurant’s Legacy of Aloha fund, and different charities are selected as beneficiaries each year.

“In the years that Duke’s Waikiki has been around, we’ve been very fortunate to build a loyal following of both kamaaina and visitors,” said senior general manager Ross Anderson. “We’re very proud to give back to the community that has supported us all these years through our Legacy of Aloha donation.

“Duke Kahanamoku himself surely would have supported the recipient of this year’s donation.”
