Haseko Training Fund has awarded the Building Industry Foundation a $30,000 grant to support its work-force development efforts in the Ewa Beach community.
The grant gives adults age 18 and older the opportunity to participate in a pre-apprenticeship construction training project named ComPACT: “Building Skills to Build Lives.” According to BIF executive director Karen Nakamura, the outreach program targets non-traditional students who are unemployed or under-employed to give them the knowledge and job skills necessary for entry-level positions in the construction industry.
Applications are available online at biahawaii.org or at the Construction Training Center of the Pacific (94-487 Akoki St. in Waipahu) and the Hale Pono Ewa Beach Boys and Girls Club (91-884 Ft. Weaver Road). Deadline for submission is Aug. 31.
