Hawaii Maoli will sponsor a new open market beginning this Saturday in the parking lot of the Hawaiian Homestead, East Kapolei Phase One.
The first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., shoppers will be treated to hula, music, demonstrations, crafters, a swap meet and more as they browse through 30 booths offering an array of local products including Hawaiian food, pastele, soups and stews, shave ice and desserts.
The market will benefit operations of Hawaii Maoli, an affiliate of the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs.
“Hawaii Maoli is hosting this event to create community awareness of the Prince Kuhio Community Center and to provide cultural services and organic (goods) to the community,” said Jodi Akai of the Prince Kuhio Community Center (PKCC).
Hawaii Maoli is dedicated to supporting the Native Hawaiian community and works at strengthening membership in the civic clubs. Akai added that the organization also was instrumental in breaking ground on PKCC, or Kipuka, the first permanent home for AHCC.
