Kisco Obtains Planned Retirement Community In Kapolei

Del.icio.usKisco Senior Living now owns all 40 acres of the Ilima at Leihano property, a planned retirement community that includes more than 300 apartments and assisted-living units and already has buyers interested.
“There is a great need for the services that we are going to provide for our kupuna here in Kapolei and on the Leeward side of the island, so we are very happy to be here,” said lifestyle counselor Linda Peacock. “We have placed a lot of effort into making sure the demographics were here to support this type of community.”
Kisco and Brookfield Homes Hawaii had planned to complete the project together; however, Kisco recently acquired Brookfield Homes Hawaii’s interests and will continue the project with other community partners.
The Kapolei location will be the California-based company’s first in Hawaii. It also oversees 20 senior communities in California, Florida, North Carolina, Virginia and Nevada.
“We have a nationally acclaimed status for our ‘Art of Living Well’ culture,” Peacock said. “The Art of Living Well seemed to fit greatly into the spirit of aloha here in our company for Hawaii.”
More than 120 seniors already have put down a priority deposit to claim the first choice of units as members of Ekahi Club. Later this year, the first model one-bedroom apartments will open for viewing at the information center. Move-in dates for the independent living units will be in late 2012.
The first phase of the Ilima features 100 independent living apartments, 84 assisted-living apartments, a 13,000-square-foot community clubhouse and a 16-unit memory care household.
Phase II will include an additional 100 apartment residences, two skilled-nursing households and 20 garden homes. The twin four-level buildings in the new green design will feature an open-garden atrium that leads to the community clubhouse.
“Our Art of Living Well covers the full gamut of the living experience,” stated Peacock. “It won’t be an activities program, it will be a wellness program.”
