Meet Breeder, Pups At April Swap Meet

Pet’s Discount Waikele conducts its first Puppy Swap Meet from 1 to 5 p.m. April 11, and the store also invites to the sale breeders interested in finding a good home for their litters.

“We want to provide breeders an opportunity to show and sell their dogs to the many customers that frequent our store,” said chief operations officer Ricky Baker of the store’s no-fee agreement with local breeders.

To be included in the Puppy Swap Meet, puppies must be 7 weeks old, vet-examined and must have their first set of shots within 14 days of the event. Breeders also must have their veterinarian sign off on a Pet’s Discount puppy exam form that shows the little ones are in good health.

“This will be a great chance for buyers to meet with the breeders firsthand to see all the puppies in their litters,” he said “Whether you’re looking for a pure-bred or mixed-breed puppy, the Waikele Puppy Swap Meet will be the place to visit.”

A list of puppy breeds available for sale will be posted ahead of time inside the store, located at 94-877 Lumiaina St. next to Hope Chapel in Waikele Center. New puppy parents will be offered a Puppy Package of free food, a free vet exam and other discounts good for six months. Experts from Sirius Puppy Training and the Animal Clinic of Kapolei also will be on hand offering free services and answers for new owners.
