Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate’s life for me. Avast, all ye landlubbers! The Black Pearl, starring ship of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, has dry-docked in Hawaii - at Kalaeloa Barbers Point Harbor, to be precise.
Though not the same one used in the original Pirates of the Caribbean, the 208-ton vessel was created especially for the second and third installments of Walt Disney Pictures’ wildly popular film series that stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley, among other Hollywood A-listers.
Filming on Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is scheduled to begin this summer, when the Pearl will sail once more following this small overhaul from her long journey across the Pacific.

Separate divisions within the shipyard also earned seven platinum, four gold and four silver statuses.
“Even though this was a tough year economically for most people, shipyard employees were quick to support the gift of giving,” said CFC project officer Brendan Cravalho.
The donation will be used to support more than 4,000 local, national and international charities.
