Santa Pays A Visit To Oahu SPCA

Del.icio.usFurry, four-legged friends are getting a chance to celebrate the holidays too, thanks to the Oahu SPCA, located at 91-1839 Roosevelt Ave., Bldg 1142 in Kapolei.
The nonprofit’s Tree of Hope Celebration from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday is a benefit for animals that were rescued and need homes.
Activities include a dog training demonstration, lots of food, live entertainment, raffle prizes and professional photos with Santa for $25. Tours of the shelter with Santa’s elves also will be offered at $10 per person, or $20 per family.
Additionally, those who have lost a pet, relative or friend can purchase a commemorative “Paws for a Cause” ornament.

As a special gift to pet owners, the no-kill shelter will launch a new micro-chipping program for $24.95.
“Studies have shown that stray animals have a better chance of being returned to their owners when they had their pets micro-chipped,” said Oahu SPCA executive director Jody Bade-DeViney. “We want to offer this service at an affordable price for people who may not have the financial resources available.”
The chip comes with a state registration application and name tag.
