Honu Race For West BGCH Clubhouses

Hawaiian Waters Adventure Park was overrun by a swarm of rubber honu the afternoon of March 20 during the Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii’s fourth annual Honu Race & Family Concert.

After 3,000 honu were “adopted” by Island families, the race was on down the Waianae Coaster for prizes that included Chevron gas cards and family party packs from Hawaiian Waters and McDonald’s.

The turtle adopters then cooled down with a free concert from I Ka Pono, Typical Use and Shining Stars before heading to the Hurricane Bay Wave Pool for a ‘Dive ‘N Movie’ under the stars.

All proceeds from the honu adoption drive went to benefit Leeward BGCH clubhouses in Ewa Beach, Nanakuli and Waianae.
