Eight graduating Leeward Community College culinary arts students put on their final project in style. On April 13 they hosted a dinner at The Pearl for an overbooked house of 192, which kept the students busy greeting the guests and serving and preparing dishes. Food stations on the lanai and in the kitchen were abuzz with family, friends, and food connoisseurs tasting the variety of delicious and beautifully prepared dishes the students had perfected over the semester. Diners — in the restaurant or socializing on the lanai under the glow of bamboo tiki torches — enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Among the guests were culinary teachers from Pearl City, Kapolei and Waipahu high schools who came to celebrate the accomplishments of their former students.
