To raise awareness about lowering energy use, the Hawaiian Electric Company hosted Live Energy Lite Sept. 29 at Pearlridge. October being Energy Awareness Month, the festivities were just on time to ring it in with a blast of entertainment by Kaukahi, Mad Science of Hawaii and the Marine Forces Pacific Showband. There were also games, prizes, fun science, keiki activities and energy-saving tips and exhibits by the Electric Company, the Gas Company, the Board of Water Supply, the UH School of Architecture and others. Energy Awareness Month is celebrated in October because it’s one of the hottest months of the year when electricity and water usage are at their peak.
