Just as shorter days and chillier winds usher in the changing of the seasons, so does the annual Pumpkin Carving Night at Pearl Ridge Elementary School signal that it’s time once again to get into the fall spirit. Every year the school hosts a fun and safe night where students and their families can gather to carve scary faces or detailed scenes (check out Nicholas Kuklock’s Jonah and the whale!) into their choice pumpkin. At the end of the night, all the jack-and jill-o-lanterns are put onto the cafeteria stage, the lights are turned off, and the real magic happens as hundreds of gourds glow in unison. This year more than 250 people attended, double the count from last year. Guess farmers better start in on a big crop for next year!
