Paliku Theatre’s Phantom of the Opera was close to a total sellout at press time, even with three weekend extensions announced before the Sept. 9 opening.

Because of the huge response, theater manager Tom Holowach said last week that the musical would be extended again by adding Wednesday evening shows starting tonight (Sept. 21) at 7:30 p.m. through the final week of Oct. 23. Holowach said they chose Wednesday because it has the least competing demand for parking from students taking night classes at WCC.

Speaking of parking, campus road construction blocks the usual right turn to reach the theater, so patrons must make a left turn and follow a clockwise loop around the campus to get to Paliku.

“Though confusing,” he said, “it really is possible to drive all the way around to the usual lot, but many people don’t realize it and they are parking on the opposite end of the campus and walking.”

Holowach also apologizes for the delay in returning phone calls to the box office. “We have been getting calls starting early in the morning averaging one every three minutes, 50 to l75 per day.” They do call everyone back the same day, however.
