An after-school improve course begins today (Nov. 16) at Kailua Music School, taught by former Kaneohe resident and Castle Performing Arts Center actress and singer Kimee Balmilero, now a professional performer with credits on Broadway and international stages.

Laughtrack Theater Co. has launched the program to give Windward youths (ages 11-16) a way to build their confidence and creativity as they learn the basics of acting and theater.

The course runs through Dec. 10, meeting from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at 131 Hekili St. #209. Tuition is $225. For more information, call Kim Potter at 384-3362.

A veteran of improv shows, Balmilero also was in the original Broadway cast of Mamma Mia, the national touring company of Miss Saigon and the Emmy-nominated TV series Hi-5. Laughtrack Theater Co. was founded in Honolulu’s Chinatown in 2008 and is the state’s only theater devoted exclusively to the art of longform improvisational comedy.
