Aikahi Artwork At State Capitol

Del.icio.usThe public can view the artwork of Windward Oahu students through the end of the month in the chamber level of the State Capitol, presented by STAR (Sen. Jill Tokuda’s Art Review) Program.
Works by Aikahi Elementary children are featured in January, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
“Aikahi has a long and decorated history of integrating arts into their curriculum,” said Tokuda, who created STAR in 2007. “It will be an honor to have their art pieces decorating the halls of the State Capitol as we open our legislative session.”
Since the start of the program, more than 1,000 students from 17 Windward schools have shared their artistic expressions with the community. Elementary and high schools, a Hawaiian charter school and the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility have participated so far.
