Hula Preservation Society sponsors a four-part workshop this month at Hale Pulelehua on “Hawaiian Songs & Lullabies for Your Little One.”

Designed for moms and their infants, motions to the songs will be taught in a sitting format so the keiki (age 5 and under) are an integral part of the music.

The half-hour sessions begin at 11 a.m. June 7, 14, 21 and 28, and fee is $35 per family. To register and for more details, call 247-9440 or stop by the studio at 46-020 Alaloa St., behind Windward Mall.

Checks should be payable to Hula Preservation Society.

“I was asked to do this class by the moms I teach in my ongoing Babywearing Hula class,” explained kumu hula Maile Loo.

“They requested it after seeing what I do with my own daughter and how much fun it is.”

In fact, Loo’s daughter (now 2 years old) inspired the babywearing class, as well, since she was on mom’s back during the keiki hula classes that Loo taught.

“What an adventure it’s been,” she admitted, “and it continues to be every day!”
