For anybody who is going through the pain of a divorce, DivorceCare can help. The national support group has meetings all over the country, including from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays beginning July 19 at the First Presbyterian Church at Koolau.

DivorceCare runs for 13 weeks, dealing with a different topic each time, such as new relationships, financial advice, anger, depression, loneliness and reconciliation. And although the program is faith-based, the content of the seminars transcends religious affiliation.

“The sessions are full of good practical issues and personal advice,” said Lee Alden Johnson of the Life Ministries Team at First Presbyterian. Each session includes a video seminar with psychologists, pastors and counselors. After viewing the video, participants then have a group discussion.

“A lot of times people feel like they’re the only one feeling the way they do,” added Johnson. But DivorceCare provides a safe, honest environment where people can share what they are feeling with others in similar situations.

The 13-week session will run from July 19 to Oct. 13, and people may join any time throughout the program. There is a onetime $15 registration fee, which also includes a workbook.
