Middle school students are invited to submit an essay or poem to the Hawaii Conservation Alliance Foundation for its 2011 My Hawaii Story Project.
Entries must answer these questions: 1) Why are the forests of Hawaii special to you? 2) Why is it important to protect them?
The top 25 entries will be announced May 4 and published in the foundation’s annual My Hawaii anthology. Submissions from Kailua Intermediate School and Le Jardin Academy students were among the picks in 2009 and 2010.
Deadline is 5 p.m. March 11, either to the website hawaiiconservation.org/myhawaii or by mail to the HCAF, 677 Ala Moana Blvd. Suite 320, Honolulu HI 96813.
Details and requirements also are available online.
