Kaneohe Community Family Center’s annual Baskets of Blessings project is aiming to make Thanksgiving a happy time for needy families and it could use a few more helping hands for the effort Saturday morning.

Planned for 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Castle High School cafeteria, the service project welcomes volunteers to decorate and pack boxes and baskets, and make cards for families in need for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Donations of gift wrap, money, canned food and $10 grocery-store gift cards all are welcome.

Tasks begin at 7 a.m. that day at Castle and also at King school. Assignments include picking up and delivering canned goods to Castle, bringing paper goods, refreshments, water and coolers; hanging banners, setting up tables, taping and wrapping boxes, making greeting cards, loading trucks and clean up.

The nonprofit family center also needs assistance delivering gift boxes to designated locations after the event. For more information or to offer help, call 235-7747.
