HPU Sponsors Contest For Unpublished Poets

Calling all poets. Hawaii Pacific University is looking for unpublished works for its James M. Vaughan Award for Poetry. The literary winner will receive $250 and have his or her work published in Hawaii Pacific Review, an annual literary magazine published by the university.
Dr. Patrice Wilson, associate professor of English at HPU and noted poet, is serving as contest judge.
The winner will be announced in January 2012 with the award given at HPU’s Koolau Writing Workshop in March. The winner also will be asked to share his or her works and writing experience with HPU students and faculty.
Poets who have resided in Hawaii for a year need to send three poems with a 100-line limit each to James M. Vaughan Award for Poetry, 1060 Bishop St., LB 7A, Honolulu HI, 96813. Submissions must be postmarked by Dec. 15. For more information or entry rules, contact Wilson at 544-1108.
