HPU opens the award-winning play The House of Blue Leaves at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 directed by Joyce Maltby on its Kaneohe stage.
It’s the story of a zookeeper (played by Rob Duval) who lives in Queens. After the pope visits New York in 1965 and leaves an enthusiastic impact, the man flees his demanding, middle-class family life and heads for Hollywood to be a bigtime songwriter. But many interesting obstacles face him on the way.
Tickets are $25-$5 (375-1282), and guests are invited to join the cast for champagne and pupus after the Nov. 10 show. It runs Wednesdays-Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays-Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 4 p.m. through Dec. 4.
