Kailua High School’s Canoe Club will have a benefit imu roast May 13 on campus, and cooking space is on sale now to the public for $20 per aluminum tray of thawed, seasoned and well-wrapped meat.

(Five dollars of the fee will go to cover supplies, equipment, repair and maintenance of the imu and to a scholarship fund.)

“This is the perfect time to cook food for upcoming graduation parties,” said Todd Hendricks, imu master and retired KHS teacher. He also advises that you make three deep cuts in the meat if cooking pork butt, roast or ham.

Trays should be delivered between 3 and 4:30 p.m. May 13 at the imu site near the school parking lot. Pickup time is 8 to 9:30 a.m. May 14. Mail-in deadline is this Friday, weight limit is 25 pounds per tray and only 300 orders can be accepted.

Mail checks, payable to Kailua High School, 451 Ulumanu Drive, Kailua HI 96734. Write “Attention IMU” on the lower left corner of the envelope. Enclose phone number and a self-addressed stamped envelope for the imu tag and receipt.

For more information, call Hendricks at 728-7389 or Duane Samson at 234-3700.
