Photographers Kapulani Landgraf and Mark Hamasaki have combined their talents to bring unique contemporary images of Kailua into the Hawaii Pacific University art gallery.
“Kailua i ke oho o ka Malanai” (Kailua in the wisps of the Malanai breeze) is on view now through Jan. 13 at the gallery, located on the Hawaii Loa campus. Collaboratively known as Piliamo’o, their work is of silver gelatin prints, not digital images, documenting cultural, geographical and historical places of the area historic in the ancient sense, where Hi’iaka chants an epic of the goddess Pele and her family while traveling through Kailua.
The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Call 544-0228.
