Library Launches Talks On GMO Food Issues

Kahuku Library invites residents to consider genetically modified organisms over the next few weeks in Focus on Foods, inviting in presenters, pro and con, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

The first session is Feb. 15 with Dr. Melissa Yee, Dr. Hector Valenzuela and taro farmer Danny Bishop, who will discuss “The Importance of Local Farming, Food Sovereignty and Non-GMO Foods.”They will cover GMO seeds and the role this science plays in feeding Hawaii families.


The second session on Feb.22 features farmer Travis Overley in “How to Grow your own Organic Food,”including Hawaiian produce costs and benefits.
