Navy To Host Meetings On New Chopper Units

Navy officials will conduct public information meetings at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at Waimanalo Elementary & Intermediate School and Dec. 8 at Castle High School to share details and hear comments on the proposed impact of basing up to two Marine Medium Tiltrotor squadrons and one Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron in Hawaii on U.S. Army land.

The move would bring about 1,000 active-duty military, 22 civilian personnel and 1,106 dependents to the state at three training areas: Bellows on Oahu, Pohakuloa on the Big Island and on Molokai.


The meetings will take place in the cafeterias of the schools. For details, call 257-8870.
