Lani-Kailua Outdoor Circle will host its Bi-Annual Plant Sale from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Kailua Elementary School.

Women’s Community Correctional Center inmates have raised the plants through their “Learning to Grow Program” in cooperation with 10 LKOC volunteers and a hydroponics consultant who meet with the women weekly to teach basic techniques of backyard vegetables and plant gardening.

Early shoppers will get the best selection, and proceeds will benefit the faith-based “Total Life Recovery” program at WCCC, which focuses on the causes of imprisonment such as addiction, domestic violence and abuse.

Founded in 1948 as a branch of The Outdoor Circle, the LKOC is devoted to keeping Kailua green and beautiful by planting trees, shrubs and flowers in parks, public spaces, at schools and along streets and highways.
