Starting Sept. 20 in the middle of Kaneohe Bay, people can examine the research going on hundreds of miles away on another group of islands.

It’s a hands-on, continuing education course offered for five weeks by the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology on Moku o Lo’e (Coconut Island).

Designed “for anyone,” the course explores what scientists are currently learning about the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument in the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands. Students meet the researchers and participate in the labs.

Classes will meet from 9 a.m. to noon each Tuesday from Sept. 20 to Oct. 18. Fee is $40 plus a $40 lab fee.
