Families with children and elders who could use some holiday cheer should notify their local Salvation Army center this week to get on the group’s gift list.

Each year the charitable organization puts up Angel Trees, adorning them with adoptive gift tags for specific keiki or seniors who list their special Christmas wish. The tree is a familiar sight at Windward Mall, where shoppers choose a tag and fulfill the wish. Salvation Army staff then delivers the gifts to the recipients.

Eligible families also receive food certificates for a holiday meal.

In Windward Oahu, contact the Kaneohe Corps, located at 45-175 Waikalua Road; phone is 235-1408.

Applicants must have photo ID for themselves and their children to verify age, income and proof of address.
