Windward Community College will conduct a Service-Learning Fair from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 6) in Hale Akoakoa 101-105.

The fair gives students and residents a chance to learn about volunteer opportunities and services from more than 30 different organizations. WCC also will share how service is integrated into learning.

“It is more than volunteerism, as students gain experience in applying their coursework to the real world,” said WCC marketing director Bonnie J. Beatson. “In Spring 2011, WCC students gave 1,696 hours in service to the community through 28 academic courses. This fall, 54 courses are offering a service-learning option.”

Last spring students volunteered at Hawaiian Humane Society, the Blood Bank and Special Olympics, to name a few.

To reserve an exhibit space or for more information, community organizations may call service learning coordinator Pamela DaGrossa at 2369225.
